As stated in my previous POST, i’ll be out-of-town for the next couple of or more weeks. In preparation thereof, (presuming i’ll be stuck in the entertainment room again just like last year doing DVD marathon while others are merrymaking outdoor, haha) im collecting high-rated movies. If you also love watching movies as much i do, don’t just pick out any dvd which ,to your personal judgment, seems worth your time, money and electricity. Before going out to meet with DVD peddlers, (by peddlers, i didn’t mean pirates haha. I don’t condone nor promote piracy), i propose you make a list first and in doing so, consult IMDB site or those that do movie reviews. Take note of the rating made by those who had seen the movie. This will save you from buying a low-budget, boring movie which seemed a great one in the trailer. Actually, great fraction of their budget was utilized for the production of the trailer alone. That explains why it seemed good in the trailer but actually not in the rest of movie. No, you’re wrong - im not referring to the film “the day the earth stood still” haha.
If you liked the movie “I am Legend” and “Pursuit of Happiness”, i bet, you will love Will Smith’s latest movie “Seven Pounds”. Hey, i am not doing this for advertisement. Shoot me straight in the head if you’ll not like this movie (of course im kidding, okay just a gentle slap, hehe). Go to your cardiologist if you don’t weep while watching this movie. Okay here’s my brief digest/summary of the story:
One night, Will Smith and his wife figured in a collision against another vehicle. His automobile rolled upside down ending in a fatal crash which killed seven innocent people (his wife and the six passengers of the other vehicle). To let go of the guilt that kills him gradually, he planned to commit suicide. But before turning this plan into action, he thought of another idea. He ventured on a mission to redeem himself from haunting flashbacks harrowing tragedy. He started to seek out seven strangers in desperate need of help and they are the following:
Emily Posa (a woman he fell in love with but has incurable heart disease and is expected to die soon)-to whom he gives his heart; Ezra Turner a blind pianist and a call center agent to whom he gives his eyes; Ben Thomas his brother, to whom he gives his lung; Holly (a kind old woman who has a cancer) to whom he gives his liver; Connie (a battered girlfriend and a helpless mother of two) to whom he gives his house; Nicholas (a young disabled man beloved by his parents) to whom he donates bone marrow; and George (his best buddy since grade school) to whom he donates a kidney in order to get off dialysis. With this, the title of the movie is finally revealed: Smith donates seven pounds of flesh in order to seek redemption for the seven innocent lives he took that rainy night. Now, hate me for spoiling the whole movie. my bad!
